Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and is the smallest planet in our solar system. It is named after the Roman messenger god Mercury. Mercury is a rocky planet with a heavily cratered surface, similar in appearance to our Moon. Its surface is also covered with cliffs, ridges, and impact craters.
